Today, I was inspired by this photo (from English Country Shabby on a hot tea Facebook page I follow) to use purples and greens for some cards.  I love the rich and warm look, and I love when colors and styles inspire me to make a matching card or two!

For this card I used Purple Posy cardstock for a base and Highland Heather ink for the daisies. Then, I used Gorgeous Grape for the sentiment from the "Stamping Your Way to the Top" Team Building stamp set I received at November On Stage.  It has been a joy to use for new demonstrator cards. 

The Brick and Mortar 3D embossing folder was highlighted with a bit of Gray Granite ink using a sponge dauber. That helped it coordinate with the pretty Scalloped edged Purple Posy ribbon.  I finished with some glitzy light green sequins from the iridescent sequin assortment.

Band Together Color Combos Challenge Birthday

For this card I started with the colors, Seaside Spray, Rococo Rose and Crumb Cake. I had to add some So Saffron and Old Olive Vellum too. The Classic Label punch made a great dovetailed ends sentiment by just re-cutting the edges.  Blends were a bright, eye-catching pop of color against the white and Seaside Spray too.  More details about the exact products can be seen in the Product List below.

A Day without Stamping? Our trip to Pawhuska, OK, Pioneer Woman, and Tallgrass Prairie Preserve

It is 2-1/2 hours from our home in Edmond to Pawhuska, so my husband, two daughters and myself left early and began our day with breakfast at the Pioneer Woman Mercantile in downtown Pawhuska.  We enjoyed pancakes, cinnamon rolls, bacon and eggs, scones and waffles.  (Not every person ate each thing of course!)  Then, we went shopping and exploring in the store.  Emma chose a spatula and a floral print flour sifter and Sara chose a Prairie Schooner and horse salt and pepper set.

Of course we also went upstairs to see the ladies pounding out the biscuits and scones and the pretty pastries on display.

 Next, we traveled out to the lodge (about 10 miles out of town) to see where Ree Drummond/The Pioneer Woman tapes her show for Food Network.  Emma enjoyed seeing the back room where props are stored (about 8 different mixers) and the pantry with library ladder for those top shelves. There had been a thunderstorm, so there was no electricity at the lodge. We'd heard rumors they might have to close it due to lack of electricity, so we changed our plans to go there next.

Emma with the mixer since she loves to bake (especially for the 3+ month Swine Week charity fundraising daily bake sales at her high school).

Then, we came back into town to walk across the swinging bridge that was once used by some Pawhuska residents as the only way across Bird Creek into the downtown area.  All four of us went across the bridge just fine, but some of us didn't care for our pictures on it. :D

Next we traveled back out to the country to the Tallgrass Prairie Preserve to see the bison and un-plowed prairie land.  First we saw two large ones cross the road in front of us.  We'd been so warned that we wanted to stay out of their way.

The "Loose Bison" signs did make us giggle.

Next, I tried to take some pretty pictures of the herd without fences or wires:

It was much better than just viewing the Bison at the zoo, and the girls were able to pop up out of the sunroof to look out for a great view as we traveled a bit. We continued to the information center where one could touch bison fur and see artifacts found on the Preserve as well as native species and grasses.

Finally, we went back into town and again ate at the Mercantile for Lemonades (Blueberry and Strawberry) and Chicken Fried Steaks.  It was a fun day!  I wish we'd had time to stop by the Pioneer Woman statue (original Pioneer Woman) in Ponca City to show the girls, but as it was we had to wash the dust and mud off the car before we could put it in the garage, so we just didn't have time.
