At first all the wonderful choices we are given as card makers can be overwhelming. This is just my opinion of the possible purchase choices one might make as a new stamper. As always, only you know what would be the most fun and useful for you!
1. Paper Pumpkin:
Paper Pumpkin kits can provide several of the supplies you need to get started stamping economically while providing a complete craft experience each month.
Every $22.50 (includes shipping) monthly kit contains an exclusive stamp set, ink spot, and embellishments to create a pre-designed project. At least six times a year, the kit consists of eight or more cards. Sometimes the kit includes cards plus gift bags, banners, treat bags, or boxes. Other times, it’s home décor, giftables, or just treat packaging.
The ink spot and stamp set as well as leftover embellishments and adhesives can be used on other projects in the future which allows you to build your supplies stash.
Almost kits such as Memories & More Card Packs and Notecards and Envelopes can be used to make card-making easier. These cards offer a variety of designs and are just a step above the Projects with Purpose Kits as far as the effort needed for you to design them which can provide a perfect level of creativity and ease.

If you have a paper cutter that will also score, you can create up to 48 cards for just a little over $60 (including tax and shipping) using thick Whisper White cardstock. Of course a different stamp set (It ~should~ be line art) would work, and the price would vary. (Rather than Stampin' Blends alcohol markers, you could also choose watercolor pencils which cost $2 less than 4 of the Blends markers.)
