Stampin' Addicts 2013 Retiring Stamp Sets Blog Hop

Welcome to the Stampin' Addicts Retiring Stamps Blog Hop!  Join us as we offer a last hurrah to our favorite stamp sets that are retiring this year. If you are following the hop in order, you've arrived from Kim Bolzenthal's blog, Stitchin' N Stampin' on Paper on which she highlighted the French Foliage set.  If not, don't worry you can make it there by clicking through the stops or by visiting the Blog Hop Thread on the Stampin' Addicts website.

I chose the Greeting Card Kids set for a couple of reasons...I needed to make the projects I made, and I thought the set was SO adorable that I'm going to keep it.

This card is for my daughter for her Fifth Grade Graduation.  I made it in the school colors (Red, White and Blue), but I used Pacific Point to brighten it a little.  The little scholar's diploma (I masked off the Valentine heart in her hand.) is just typing paper, and her hat was made using the large Itty Bitty Banner framelit and punching it with the 3/4 inch circle punch so that it followed the shape of her head.  I made a trapezoid for the top, but decided against a tassle. I was afraid I wasn't up to the challenge.  Blender pen was used for her dress and shoes while markers were an easy choice for the remainder of the coloring.  Chevron for a background with some rickrack from the Tasteful Trim Bigz XL die made it look a little more fun.  The "Happy Graduation" sentiment is from Teeny Tiny Wishes.

This card will be cute for the Fifth Grade Graduation page of her scrapbook too.

Next, we have our favorite students with the "teacher" sentiment from another retiring set, Family Reunion.  It is so nice to have all those words available when they are needed.  The Thank U (rather than Thank You) from the A Round Array set is sort of funny for a teacher card, but it was the perfect "Thank You" for this great layout, MOJO292 from the MOJO Monday blog.

Next, I decided to make Reese's Peanut Butter Cup holders for the teachers, but I thought I'd make a Christmas design to show you all as well.  I love the new In Color, Pistachio Pudding cardstock with Real Red and also with Pink Pirouette.  I rolled the new Gingham wheel on the main layer to add old fashioned charm. The new Artisan Label punch is perfect to fold in half for the pull tab as well...  The Thank You is from the new 2013-2014 hostess set, Express Yourself.  These great new items aren't available until May 31st, but I think you'll want to buy them because they are so versatile!

I hope you've enjoyed visiting the Greeting Card Kids with me. Now it is time to enjoy Tanya's handsome and energetic creations with the "I Dig You" set on her blog, Tinkerin in Ink.

MOJO292 Made by Emma

My daughter, Emma made this for her teacher for Teacher Appreciation Week...Emma loves penguins, and she wanted to use the MOJO Monday Sketch that she saw on one of my cards.

She used the Zoo Review stamp set penguin with the Thank You from the Express Yourself  Hostess Set. She also used the new In Color Pistachio Pudding as well as Tempting Turquoise and Marina Mist.

Pistachio Pudding Wildflower Meadow

I think this will be a little simpler for new stampers and old stampers alike than the Wildflower Meadow card posted below. :)  It is so quick and easy to ink the Wildflower Meadow stamp with Pistachio Pudding ink, emboss with the Wildflower Meadow folder, and add a ribbon and sentiment.  I chose the "Happy Birthday" from the Label Love set and added an extra Pistachio Pudding punched piece to the top and bottom of the image for emphasis.
Then just a bit of clear Dazzling Details glitter glue to bling it up a bit.

Learn To Stamp Party June 1st 1:00 p.m. and Wildflower Meadow Card

Join me on June 1st at 1:00 p.m. for a FREE introduction to stamping party.  It would also be a great time to pick up your New 2013-1014 Stampin' Up! Catalog even if you already know how to stamp since I'll definitely be here.  (The catalog is free to you if you've placed an order with me in the past year. It is $5 and refundable if you place an order later.)

We'll talk about some stamping basics, make a card (similar to the one shown below, but this one takes too long) and have a snack.  You are welcome even if you've stamped before, and I haven't seen you for a while. I'll also have my retired stamps available if you want to shop...many with a new lower price.

For this card, I used the Round Array Stamp set and punch for the sentiment, Markers in Real Red, Pacific Point, Tempting Turquoise, Old Olive and Crushed Curry (It was a brighter yellow and matched the Daffodil Delight ribbon better.), and the Wildflower Meadow Background stamp.  I used both the Wildflower Meadow Embossing Folder and the Square Lattice Embossing Folder to add texture and depth. I only wish I'd stamped on Naturals Ivory instead of Whisper White--I think that would have created a cool natural look with the Linen Thread.

Stampin' Up! Retirement List 2013

It's that time of year again friends! Retiring Stamp Sets are available until June 3, and as usual Retiring Accessories are First Come-First Served, so I'm afraid if we wait until our next classes on May 2nd and 3rd, you might miss out on those. BE SURE AND CHECK THE ACCESSORIES--SOME ARE ON SALE. If you only want Stamp Sets, you should be fine to wait until our next club meeting, but the accessories may sell out.

And if you place an order through my online store before Sunday at 6 p.m. CDT, and use Hostess Code WYGC3TMH you will be entered to win one of the retiring stamp sets: Button Buddies and an assortment of buttons from all the retiring color families.  (Orders over $150 should not use the hostess code as they are eligible for their own hostess benefits).  (If you already have Button Buddies, I'll find another nice set I'm not keeping for you.)
To shop the retired lists, visit my Demonstrator Web Site and click shop now.  Don't forget to check out the Clearance Rack and other limited times offers in the promotions section while you are there.

MOJO287 Some retiring colors and the Best of Flowers bouquet

I didn't finish in time to enter this card in last week's contest, but I think some of you will enjoy making this card at class next month.  It highlights four Stampin' Up! colors that have been retired. Sadly, you can't get reinkers for many of the colors already.  Instead of River Rock on the flowers I didn't use a So Saffron marker (to color the roses) which is not retiring, but the Lucky Limeade (2011-2013 In Color), Not Quite Navy, River Rock and Baja Breeze are retiring.  I've really enjoyed these colors over the years.

Masculine Stamp A Stack Cards

I hope you like some of these designs....they will be great for any upcoming male birthdays, or you can change the sentiment if you'd like.

I was inspired by this card on Pinterest by Nancy Ferb for the cards above and the feminine card below.

The Everything Eleanor flourish looks perfect with the oval...I had to offer this for Stamp A Stack when I saw her design.

Patterned Occasions for Stamp A Stack

The Sale-A-Bration set Patterned Occasions is so nice for a Stamp A Stack, so I decided to go ahead and use it even after SAB.  I enjoy the polka dot and chevron folders for added texture and interest to this card.

As you can see, the card is exactly the same no matter which focal image you choose, so you just need to say Patterned Occasions to choose any of these four cards or the "whole latte love" sentiment.

Stamp A Stack Floral Monochrome Cards

These cards using March's 25th Anniversary set, Best of Flowers will be quick to make yet soft and pretty should you choose to make them at April Stamp A Stack.  I used the Elegant Lines Embossing Folder and the Labels Collection Framelits. Of course the sentiment can be changed to any other.

Designer Typest Photopolymer Pennant and Pinwheel Card

Blowing "HAPPY" wishes your way with a cute little Pinwheel...I happened upon a fun little card by Cindy H. on Splitcoast that was perfect for our Class next week...so I CASEd it with just a change in the stamps and papers.  I used the Designer Typeset Photopolymer set's pennant and the Pinwheel sizzlet and Wishes your Way sentiment.  Add Sunshine and Sprinkles dsp and...all done!

Best of Flowers Canvas Creations

I went to Splitcoaststampers to see if there were any sketches for the next Stamp A Stack and found this was today's sketch! I had already created the hydrangea focal image on Stampin' Up!'s new Canvas Creations (It's like stamping on firm linen.), so I went with it. :)

I think you'll enjoy coloring this image with blender pens. It would make a decent Mother's Day card too.

April Showers with Bootiful Occasions, Rain or Shine

I've had this idea for a long time and have just been waiting until closer to April to make the card...I love the cloud background embossing folder with the cloudy rain boots from the Bootiful Occasions set.  The polka dot umbrella and sentiment from Rain or Shine is fun so fun with the polka dot ribbon.

We'll make this card next Thursday and Friday the 4th and 5th of April at Class/Club.
The bow makes this card pretty thick, so you may want a knot instead if you plan to mail it. :)

This card uses MOJO Monday sketch 284.

Floral Coral Stamp A Stack card

This card will be one of the options for the Birthday Stamp A Stack on April 18th or 19th...I like that the card is simple yet detailed.  I used both the Fab Friday sketch (FabFri13) and the current Color Challenge, FabFri14 for this card...I was also inspired by all their design team members who used the coral polka dot DSP from the Tea for Two Designer series paper pack.
