Stampin' Addicts' New 2012-2013 catalog blog hop

Today, I'm using the Horse Frontier Set....I like to have a western set available, so I'm glad they added this set. 

For this first card, I used the Louis L'amour quote for a birthday card for my husband. He is a Louis L'amour fan because his grandfather was, which I think is sweet.  The Cajun Craze, Midnight Muse and Soft Suede are an easy color combination, and the woodgrain makes a fence post like background. Some denim ribbon and a bit of linen thread complete it simply.

Next, is this card created to show the set watercolored.  The chocolate chip makes a nice bay brown, and the Primrose Petals sentiment makes it perfect for a cowgirl since this card will be for a friend whose birthday is in August.  The Itty Bitty Banner is curved to make it wavy. I used the chevron embossing folder on the Gumball green cardstock with the Stitched Satin ribbon, and the green brads are Garden Green as is the grass in the picture.

Finally, I'm channeling my inner Campfire Girl (I actually was one and made these several different ways). I made this pencil can to give to the same friend's daughters for their homework desk. My daughter suggested it--How could I refuse?  I wanted to add bling or brads, but I was afraid I would accidentally take it to an even more Campfire Girl level.

Girl Birthday Scrapbook pages

Another of the choices for Scrapbook class last week was this Girl Birthday layout. I can't wait to add pictures from Sara's party to this!  Each person also received two secondary pages for this class.

Father's Day Wise Owl

I saw this little owl on Pinterest here http://pinterest.com/pin/29766047507448332/ and thought it would be fun for Father's Day....It is from blogger Dani here: http://myownart.bplaced.net/www/blog/  I'm thinking she is German from the language.

I just added some new ribbon and designer series paper to brighten him a little. So simple!

We'll make this card for class on June 7th or 8th...Can't wait to see you all again then!

Papaya Collage framed Open Seas

The frame from the new Papaya Collage set looks nice around the Ship from the Open Seas set I think.  I embossed the frame in gold, and stamped the ship in Chocolate Chip on Pool Party cardstock.  I bleached the sails (it takes two applications of bleach with a small paintbrush-heated with the heat tool) and the water then added more of the Midnight Muse ink with an aquapainter.  It was fairly quick and easy, and I think you'll enjoy making this card on June 7th or 8th!

Everything Eleanor and a couple new 2012-2014 In Colors

We received this set at Stampin' Up!'s Leadership Conference, and it is in the new catalog.  I paired it with two newly arrived In Colors, Primrose Petals (coral pink) and Summer Starfruit (a chartreuse-tinged yellow).  The other color is 2011-2013 In Color Lucky Limeade.

Dazzling Details adds sparkle to the Summer Starfruit-colored flower pistils and stamen, and pearls accent the scalloped edge.

Scrapbooking Month Class

I'm celebrating National Scrapbooking month by offering a 2 page layout class. There are three choices. The Nature pages below, this layout and a girl's choice give you a variety of colors. This potential Boy's Birthday layout which is also perfect for a thunder fan is quick and fun. Letters can be a child's name instead of course. On the other hand, one would remove the cupcake and make the circle a basketball for a more thunder-y look. (More bling and embellishments available to you at class.)

Since the pastels are retiring, I decided to feature them this week for my stamp class and club. You may see the remainder of the projects on my projects blog. (A link is in the left column at the top.)

Pullin' Pastels is a technique I usually use at Halloween, but for this card I tried it with the retiring Fifth Avenue Florals set. I think it is elegant and daring in a fun way. The other three items seemed shabby vintage, so to me this one breaks that mold.  The sentiment may of course be changed.

Stampin' Addicts 2012 Retiring Sets Blog Hop

I chose the set Inspired by Nature for the hop because I love its versatility.  I loved this set with Orchid Opulence because it was so realistic, so I tried it with Wisteria Wonder for a change. I like to intentionally streak the petals because to me they look like that in real life. Corner bling add sparkle and a nod to the retiring ticket corner punch.

In a further attempt to show versatility, I used the retiring Clear Circle big shot die and the retiring Stampin' Pastels.  I used the poppin' pastels technique to create bright Melon Mambo petals then made a So Saffron colored background to age the layer and highlight the Very Vanilla seam binding ribbon and pearls.

In this 12X12 layout, I used the main coneflower image to create a stamped break in the picture spots for a sweet look.  I realized I hadn't used this set with Peach Parfait and Soft Suede, so I paired them with the chameleon-like green, Old Olive for a sweet look.  (The picture featured is of my daughters in the same dress at the same age.  My younger daughter is taller than my older daughter by several inches.)

Stampin Up! Retiring Accessories List

The retiring Stamp Sets are shown here http://www.stampinup.com/us/documents/BWFlyer_RetiredList_Demo_Apr1512_US.pdf . They are available through May 31^st, so my local customers should be fine to order with May stamp club.

Accessories are first come, first served however. Remember these items are only available while supplies last, so get your order in as quickly as possible. Either CALL me by tonight at 10:00 p.m. to let me know you have an order or after that time order online and choose me as your demonstrator (you don’t want to pay extra by not choosing a demonstrator). As always call or email with any questions—I’m happy to try to help.

 There are 12 pages of Retiring items listed today. Some of them are expected, such as the complete retirement (ribbon, inks, paper/cardstock and markers) of the 2 year old In-colors (2010-2012), hostess items, designer series paper, several Stampin’ Around wheels and the Simply Adorned items. A good quantity of retiring ribbon has also been the norm in recent years, and the ¼ inch grosgrain, satin and Wide 1-1/4 inch striped grosgrain are retiring. Other items are unexpected such as the mat pack, cropadile, a variety of punches and Big Shot folders and dies, the Versamarker and the Stampin’ Pastels.

1. The Craft inks other than Black and White are all retiring, and the Classic ink pads are being redesigned to have a firm foam surface. The idea is to prevent the “curling or cupping up” of the edges of the ink pads when they need to be re-inked and to improve quality.

You do not need to replace your ink pads!! Only the 5 colors mentioned below will ever need to be replaced in my opinion. The problem will only be that you will need to re-ink new pads with new formulas of re-inker because they had to change them a little. If you have an old ink pad, it can be re-inked with old or new re-inker. The new ink pads for ONLY these 5 colors need NEW re-inkers. For the other colors, New ink pads can be re-inked with Old re-inkers nicely.

Please note: Five ink colors have undergone formula changes to improve functionality and color stability with the new firm foam pads. These colors are

2. Textured 12” X12” cardstock will no longer be available. Several colors will no longer have separate colors of 12X12 smooth cardstock available for purchase and will only be available in the color family combination packs. Colors not on this list are assumed still available in a single color pack. (8-1/2 X11 cardstock is unaffected and available in all colors.) These colors are:

Stampin' Addicts 5th Saturday Stamp Jam and Blog Bounce

I'll be showing cards for moms who like bling, moms who like flowers and moms who like silly.

Oddly, all of my projects are cards, but this first "Bling" card has a 3D.  The flower embellishment that is the main image of the card is a removable pin.  It is adhered with dots of Green Tombow Mono Multi Liquid Glue that I allowed to dry on the card before attaching.  The pin peels right off the card when you want it to do so.

The MOM label will also easily peel off the flower petals because MOM probably won't want to announce it on the jacket or bag to which she clips the flower especially longer than a week after Mother's Day.  I think the glitter on the Very Vanilla under the Pink Pirouette doiley adds a bit of fun to the Beau Chateau designer series paper colorscheme.

Next, is this Floral stained glass look card. It was created by using vellum with the Designer Cuts Cards and Envelopes set from the Occasions Mini catalog. I like the idea of giving this floral heart to a woman rather than a Valentine/man since it is so frilly, so when my downline Valerie showed a similar card to me, I had to find the tutorial by Patty Bennett and CASE Brenda Crenshaw. I used lighter colors and added a bow....you really need to try this one. It is such fun!

Finally, I have a silly card to give to a mom who isn't necessarily your mom.   I may have to explain my intent?  The idea is that Mom is sprinkling happiness and making the child grow...Perfect to give to a mom on her first Mother's Day....

Vellum under Designer Cuts

This stained glass look card was created by using vellum with the Designer Cuts Cards and Envelopes set from the Occasions Mini catalog. I like the idea of giving this floral heart to a woman rather than a Valentine/man since it is so frilly, so when my downline Valerie showed a similar card to me, I had to find the tutorial by Patty Bennett and CASE Brenda Crenshaw.  I used lighter colors, and I hope everyone enjoys making this card.

Zoo Review cards

This Zoo Review set card was a favorite of mine created by the Stampin' Up! team at Leadership this year. The only change I made was putting them on colored card bases. I used the penguin card for Emma's birthday thank yous. For class this week, you'll use the sentiment of your choice and choose either the Pool Party color scheme with a penguin or polar bear or the Old Olive color scheme with a zebra or lion. Please choose Pool Party or Old Olive in your sign up email, so that I may cut your cardstock.

Elegant Embossed Creative Elements

Black Craft Ink and Clear Embossing Powder on Very Vanilla Cardstock create an elegant card and matching envelope. It has an enclosure for a greeting or for a gift card.  I like the simplicity of the Black Satin Ribbon bow and brad.

Everyday Elegance Color Block Variation

This is a grid/color block card using the Everyday Enchantment Sale-A-Bration designer series paper with the matching Fresh Vintage stamp set. It shows using just a scrap of leftover Crochet Ribbon to add a nice detail. The sentiment layer is raised on a dimensional strip and has one of the Everyday Enchantment Sale-A-Bration butterfly brads on it.  We'll make this card at Technique class/stamp club this Thursday and Friday.

Stampin' Addicts Third Anniversary Party Blog Hop!

Welcome to the Stampin' Addicts Third Anniversary Party Blog Hop! My party is a Hostess Appreciation Tea which is actually on my schedule for June. I can't wait to make the Creativity Journals with my sweet guests.  We'll have hot teas, scones and quiche with a few other treats too. I enjoy this event so much each year, and I think the Journals will add to our fun.

The first little project is this Fancy Favor Box with the script paper from Attic Boutique adhered behind the front and also on the inside back.  I cut a hole with one of the Labels Framelits so that when I decide what buttons, brads and/or ribbon to include as their gift (likely something from the new catalog), it will be displayed.  I typically update their SU! color rings with the new In Colors (and provide them to new members), so I will definitely include the new 2012-2014 colors.  I saw the rolled paper roses on Pinterest, but I apologize that since the poster had not linked to the original post, but to flickr instead (which when clicked shows pictures of postage stamps on flickr)  I don't know "from whence they came :).  I think my guests will love how easy they are! The Pool Party and So Saffron mimic the roses on the designer series paper though I used River Rock for my leaves and just sponged them in Soft Suede. I added some dazzling details glitter glue to the edges for shine.

I will offer my guests the option to choose their own designer series paper for their Art Journal of course, but I chose mine :). I used more of the Attic Boutique and added a piece from the Pocketful of Posies designer series paper.  I cut a piece of thin chipboard with the Label Framelit and adhered the dsp which though it isn't the same color, blends nicely. Then, I sponged it in Crumb Cake and put another Label in Crumb Cake (with embossed polka dots and edged with Dazzling Details) under the R initial from the Timeless Type Alphabet. I went old school on the ribbon because I love these colors and couldn't help but put a ton on it.

I hope to inspire my guests to use the challenges we received at Leadership to get creative and have fun.

Next is the invitation for which I used MOJO228 for the sketch.  The tea cup was stamped on the dsp as well and cut out...not sure the leaves are visible in the photograph though.

I worried that it was little silly to waste a card for my invites, so I made the information just slip under the band. My guests can reuse the simple card for a future birthday this way. (The rolled roses are much too thick to mail however.)

I'll have several things ready WAY ahead of time this year due to the hop, and that's a good feeling! Now let's continue to Betty's Kitty Stamp blog where she has Easter all wrapped up (bunnies too!) . Such a pretty cross she made!
