April Showers with Bootiful Occasions, Rain or Shine

 

 

I've had this idea for a long time and have just been waiting until closer to April to make the card...I love the cloud background embossing folder with the cloudy rain boots from the Bootiful Occasions set.  The polka dot umbrella and sentiment from Rain or Shine is fun so fun with the polka dot ribbon. 

 

 

We'll make this card next Thursday and Friday the 4th and 5th of April at Class/Club.

The bow makes this card pretty thick, so you may want a knot instead if you plan to mail it. :) 

 

This card uses MOJO Monday sketch 284.

Floral Coral Stamp A Stack card

This card will be one of the options for the Birthday Stamp A Stack on April 18th or 19th...I like that the card is simple yet detailed.  I used both the Fab Friday sketch (FabFri13) and the current Color Challenge, FabFri14 for this card...I was also inspired by all their design team members who used the coral polka dot DSP from the Tea for Two Designer series paper pack.

Happy Easter M&M Tube

Easter Everybunny stamp set card...

Our Easter card for this year features the Sunshine and Sprinkles dsp as well as the Everybunny Stamp set from the BIG/Main Stampin' Up! Catalog. It is a modified spinner card that I found on my friend, Sara's blog here: http://lilyinkpad.blogspot.com/2012/12/hoppin-into-spring.html and virtually CASEd because the oval framelits are perfect eggs, don't you think?

Banner Edge Punching

I believe the original idea for this banner punching was by Melinda Jane Spinks...I used different dsp than I had seen and chose to add bling to this birthday card.  Definitely something you could replicate I think.  We'll make this card at class this Thursday and Friday.

March 25th Anniversary Best of Flowers Stamp Set

I can not wait to get this set!  I love the bouquet, and I know it will be perfect not just for coloring, but also for monochromatic toile-look cards.  The Oval Framelits will showcase the larger images beautifully as well!

Last Week's MOJO278

I'm just getting around to posting last week's MOJO Monday Challenge Sketch card....It will be one of the birthday choices at my Stamp A Stack in April.  I think the Cross my Heart set (of crossword puzzle sentiments) adds a bit more fun to this classic punch.

Stampin' Up! Valentine Petal Cone Die Treat Sleeve

This More Amore Petal Cone Treat Sleeve is so quick. You'll have it ready for giving (includes candy) in a jiffy.  It was inspired by both Dawn Olchefske and Anne Matasci, but our creation will not be exactly like either of theirs :).  We'll make this Treat Sleeve on Thursday and Friday of this week.

Bottle Caps, Hearts and Demands for your health!

The cute hearts and embellished bottle cap (Spring, p. 24) focal point will surely convince your friend or loved one to "Recover Rapidly" by golly. It uses a piece of the Sale-A-Bration designer series paper, a bit of the Sale-A-Bration ribbon and one of the stamps from the Patterned Occasions stamp set.  It includes a heart shaped paper clip too. (Spring, p. 28)

Puzzle Piece Resist Technique

We may not make this card this month because I have a lot of Birthday cards planned, but we will definitely make this one in class soon.  The Puzzle Piece Resist Technique was in an SCS newsletter from Beate, and the technique was invented by Jennifer McGuire.

I just used the netting background after I stamped the flowers and leaves from the Secret Garden set. Then you emboss with versamark and clear embossing powder, punch the butterflies and sponge on your color choices for a very cool texture.  The original tutorial used die cuts, but it works for punches too, I think.

If you are hopping in order, you've arrived from Tanya's blog, Tinkerin In Ink with Tanya on which she featured the Madison Avenue Stamp Set with a gorgeous variety of colors and projects. I love her gorgeous honeycomb swap card and also that she incorporated the MDS content on one of her cards! I chose to highlight the Vine Street Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.  I like how it gives a leafy garden feel to projects, so I thought it gave a great texture to this card I made using another Sale-A-Bration  offering, the Bloomin' Marvelous set.  The Sale-A-Bration Sycamore Street satin Ribbons and Buttons Pack were so easy to incorporate on this card in rich Tangerine Tango.  The Pack consists of three 5 yard long rolls of ribbons in Island Indigo, Pool Party and Tangerine Tango. The 36 buttons consist of 12 each Rich Razzleberry, Tangerine Tango and Pool Party.  These products work so well together!

You can't fully cover a card front vertically with this embossing folder.  You can however emboss half of the card and then strategically place the spot where you have the edge of the embossing folder at the place you'd like some ribbon.  The ribbon will then cover the unfortunate line created by the edge of the folder. (The Pool Party ribbon would have covered the line on its own...I just wanted a little more white on the card.) You'll be surprised how easily this folder fits into the grooves made by the first embossing-it makes it really simple to line them up. 

You could also choose the Itty Bitty Banners stamp set with your Sale-A-Bration reward.  The set has matching framelits too for ease of use. The "Thank you" banner below and four other cutie pie banners definitely make it a "go to" stamp set for me.  I admit I'm not sure what I was thinking with this card design, and I can't decide if I like it or not. :)

Finally, I wanted to show the folder with the matching paper sheet from the Sale-A-Bration Designer Series Paper, Sycamore Street.  I had to include the Madison Avenue stamp set to repeat it that third time...just couldn't hold back. The MOJO176 MOJO Monday sketch was great to meld these papers together, and TLC412 from Splitcoaststampers was a fun way to let designer series paper on the inside of the card show through the front by cutting off the front of the card a bit.  (The Tangerine Tango edgelit piece is the edge of the front of the card.)

They combined so easily with the folder....the paper isn't exactly the same size, but I still think it fools the eye a little. (~And~ I used Summer Starfruit-it is such a challenge for me. :))  The shiny satin Sale-A-Bration  Sycamore Street Island Indigo satin ribbon created the strip dictated by the sketch across the bottom of the card.

Border framelit waves and Oh, Whale! couple...

First, I apologize, this should have posted right after the other Oh, Whale! card, but I see now that I messed up the date (since it wasn't there).  Since it didn't post, I'm going to post it today-right before the Sale-A-Bration Stampin' Addicts blog hop.  Please come back tomorrow at noon and see our various creations with the Sale-A-Bration offerings.

I think the Happy Whale Clearlit is plenty cute even without he stamp set, so I wanted to make the whales "kiss" by just flipping one of them over.  Easy as pie and fun too.  Our girl has lipstick and a bow too.

For the waves, I used Bashful Blue and Whisper White cut with the Large Scallop Edgelit and used the negative obviously.  They create cartoon-like white caps.  For the Cloudy Day embossing folder, I simply added White Craft ink to the clouds with a sponge dauber and heated to dry the ink. Whale you be mine?

Then, it occurred to me that adding a heart would make the card better, but sadly, the pictures I took next were a little dark.

Red Heart Valentine Hearts a Flutter

I wanted to make a bright Valentine, so I used Real Red and White...The outer heart is from the More Amore dsp sheet, and the white heart was stamped using Hearts a Flutter Stamp set. The white heart, red and white striped paper ribbons and smaller red heart were cut using the Hearts a Flutter Framlits. I used the heart embossing border and the Itty Bitty Borders framelit as well.

Oh, Whale! Whale you be mine? Valentine card....

 

I had originally intended to make a card with two whales kissing (check back tomorrow for that), but since I forgot (woe is me!) to order the framelits to match this set on my first order, I had to cut out this little guy.  He's still a sweetie, and I do enjoy cutting out the clouds from the Cloudy Day embossing folder and popping them up on dimensionals in the sky...I drew his mouth and added a googlie eye too.  Simple and Sweet, I think.

 

MOJO275 sketch More Amore

So, I'm the last person to make a card with the More Amore Designer Series Paper color scheme, but the MOJO Monday (MOJO275) sketch really helped me decide how to use these pretty papers. I do have a difficult time trying to make a card with "stuff" on it, but I tried.  I need a class to teach me to attach more things to my cards!

The small center heart design was done with a bit of baby wipe ink pad technique...using Pool Party, Riding Hood Red and Pretty in Pink reinkers. (Shhh....it looks fine with the Real? Red and Primrose Petals in the dsp.) I love the flower from the new flower trim and the Primrose Petals lace from the Artisan Embellishments Kit. Locals, I hope you'll enjoy making this card at class next week!
